life in a carrier

Eli loves being carried.
I suppose most babies do.
And as he is increasingly getting into everything, it's often a win win to put him in the carrier.

On my back when getting dinner ready...

And his view from the carrier as we visited with a bird from a favorite boutique downtown.
(He was fascinated).

catch up

So much has been happening around here lately. Summer days are wonderful. Eli and I are having lots of fun together. And getting time with Moon in the evenings and on weekends has been great.

Let's see... went to a favorite brewpub over the weekend. We last were here with Eli when he was 2 months old. Back then we were worried about him waking up and screaming (which he didn't). This time around he hardly wanted anything to do with us and just loved looking around... he did enjoy some bites of our food as well. And he sat in the highchair so he could look out all by himself. Meanwhile we had our own conversation while looking at the back of Eli (he just wanted to look around) and marveling at how big he is. My how time flies...

Eli and I get quite a few walks in. This was Friday, late morning, on a favorite walk along the river. My view was of his cute, little, wiggling feet.

We've been in Portland for a few years now and had never been to the Nike employee store. A place known around here for it's great discounts on the latest and nicest Nike gear. Well, a friend of ours hooked us up with a guest pass (required to get in) and so we went. Do I recommend going on a Saturday? And with a baby? Not really. But actually, both ended up being fine. Eli was happy as could be in the cart being fed crackers while I dodged the maddening amounts of people crawling over each other. And we each got a pair of shoes.

Eli and I snagged quite a few zucchinis at the nearby farmers market last Thursday. They were 5 for $1 and I couldn't resist. So I've been cooking.

Eli was into this box that we had received in the mail and let's just say some taped up edges, a punched hole, and a sturdy rope later he had a little cardboard spaceship-train-sled-mobile. He loves it. And I decided that it is our new method of picking up stray toys... just collect as we go. You'll notice he is sitting on several.

And well, I guess that's about all. Now to another week!

in white

an impromptu photo shoot ensued this morning while Eli played with two oversized black buttons (huge actually, from a coat?) and somehow was all in white. (he is sitting on the 2nd black button :). i need to document his 10 month stats soon too!

getting changed and dressed

Neither are Eli's favorite these days. I (usually) insist on diaper wearing and just do my very speediest and try to be entertaining. But some days you get one leg and the arms in and you just realize that last leg really isn't so crucial. For 5 more minutes.

He was just so happy crawling and playing this way.

wine tasting

Eli was very good. Very patient.
And clearly loving his toes.
It was a wonderful and fun day for us!

Look alike

Already had the baby chair and paint and fabric... so it was just a small project to entertain me for an evening. Will Eli like it?

a first: the cold

we knew he was bound to get sick for the first time at some point.

the cold that is no doubt from all that splashing in our cold neighborhood splash pad.

at least he's still smiling. and thank goodness for humidifiers.

jumping on the bed

His favorite place to stand.

Lately he's been bouncing quite a bit while holding onto the rails and making baby squeals of joy. It's quite the sight to wake up to.
