It's been a long week.
A bad cold hit us all.
And the rains are back. Real rain. Umbrella worthy rain. So no walks for a few days. Staying inside. Trying to survive.
But today we are better. Resting. Laughing with our little Eli. Reading books.
And tomorrow is a new day...

A first birthday.
Saturday.
A very special day for us!
Our baby boy turned one.
He wore his hanbok.
He played like it was any other day.
But he clearly loved being around so many people.
And thanks to a very helpful and willing set of grandparents and a very patient husband it all just came together at the end.
More pictures to come.

Powder baby
This is what happens when the baby powder opens on the baby while he is being changed and happily playing with and chewing on said powder. I don't think he learned anything but I did!
In the car
Eli does great in the car and loves looking out. We still have a "2 stops and then go home" rule because after two in/out of the seat it seems to get exponentially more difficult to get him excited about getting strapped in. Who wants to run all those errands anyways??

Time with his daddy
Just a couple quick shots in the hallway and elevator that capture how happy this little boy is when in his daddy's arms!

Walking
Getting out for a long walk was so good for us.
Falling leaves.
Sunshine. A chill in the air.
A happy baby.
A daddy who is almost done with his surgery rotation. One last overnight call.
My heart is full. I love this time of year, fall is simply my favorite. And getting to spend time with the people I love makes even the longest of days so special.

Oh happy weekend
You are here
Finally
Weekend of rest
Moon has both days off!
So to brunch we went
Then a little grocery run
And back home to baby's nap

fall is here
We have beautiful early fall days here in Portland. The mornings are crisp, then the sun and light wind come out, and it rests right around 70. So today we visited the splash pad that is all dried up, making a fun climbing spot. Next time we'll remember shoes!

walking (in its blurry form)
The only photos are of the blurry sort. The walking is full of sharp movement and closely resembles a drunken man who may have just disembarked from a horse. Anyways, you get the idea of what he looks like as a new walker with these...

Busy
Yes, we have been busy. This was Moon yesterday, post-call (he was up from 4am one day to 7am the following... slept for about 5 hours and here he is in the afternoon. it kind of amazes me. and i still wake up every 3 hours with a baby. still amazed.)
so you can see he has mastered some multitasking. talking on the phone, checking email, and holding his precious child. this is a rare moment for eli (who is post-nap here)... sitting calming on his daddy's lap clutching his beloved cup measure.
oh wait... no more sitting still. that's more like him.
but the real reason we are getting busy is because.... (drumroll)
Eli took his first steps tonight!
just before 7pm he wobbled off on those two little feet all on his own. and he just erupted into belly laughs as he walked. then i started to jump up and down which made him laugh more. then i made him do it a few more times and then he had to stop so he'd have some energy to show his daddy who was to be home shortly.
but he had energy.
moon was excited. he got down on the floor and Eli walked right to him.
So at 11.5 months we have a walker! let the fun begin.
