just hanging out

It's been a long week already in many ways. I have just a few more weeks of work, but some days it just feels like an hour is longer than I can bear, let alone a week or 3! But I want to finish well and even on the long days I know I'll be given enough strength to get through it. This makes me so appreciate these pictures of my two favorite guys just hanging out and enjoying each other (and practicing sitting up!). Oh, and my mom's coming tomorrow for the weekend (yay!), so things are looking up real fast!

on a walk

Yesterday was one of those days when you just needed to get out and enjoy the sunshine. So we did the 4 mile walk to a wonderful park in our part of town. The path is along the river the whole way. And I had to remind myself that I did parts of that same walk pregnant, just looking forward to doing it with the baby on the outside :). Now that spring has arrived we can!

He likes to sit up these days and tonight while I was chopping during some dinner prep, I decided we'd try out the high chair. The chopping interested him greatly and I enjoyed watching him, so I guess we were both content. I can't wait until he's old enough to start really cooking with me (though no chopping in his foreseeable future :).

Some mornings when I awake to my sweet baby, I just look at him and think he must have grown so much overnight. How we are loving each new day... watching him learn, grow, and express himself.

He often leaves his mommy and daddy telling each other how deeply in love with him they are. We feel so blessed.

We signed the baby up to be a practice pediatric patient to the first year medical students. He did a great job, let all those white coats listen to his heart, hold him, check his reflexes, and so forth. And his daddy was keeping a close watch on it all...

Seattle

We took an overnight, weekend vacation to a very fun city on a very sunny stretch of weather! We did some relaxing, some coffee drinking (managed to find both stumptown coffeehouses in Seattle), some planning of the baby's future (just kidding with the college guide ;), some bookstore browsing, some laying in the park, some eating, and a nice amount of walking in said sunshine! It was a lovely break before the daddy around here hits the (serious) studying for his boards.

There were moments I doubted I'd make it to spring break, a lovely 2 weeks off, but here we are. And Moon just completed an exam today, so an evening of happy family time was in order.

a birthday

We sprang forward, got up, made breakfast, opened presents, and celebrated a birthday!

Then in the evening we had friends over for some additional celebrating. Eli was up, quite happily, until 7:15, his new bedtime I guess. He got to try out lots of wonderful arms (and even scratch a few beards). Then he went happily to sleep (yay for this new trend!) and let mom and dad enjoy the party. It was a good day.

He's definitely teething and this giraffe, named Sophie, has been his best friend lately.

Eli and I had a short day of work and I decided we'd swing by and meet up with Moon during lunch time. Such a sunny day!

We went out this afternoon for a little walk, some coffee, and a park break for some swinging. Those swings may even have drifted the baby off to sleep. We really just wanted to hang out with his uncle J. Which was fun.
(And we bundled the little man up because while it was sunny... there was a chill. Good thing his daddy doubles as a nice heater for him :)

A wonderful friend in Moon's class knit this lovely hat for the boy. As we had snow flurries today, I thought he should pull it out. We then took a little walk in the sun... after the flurries past.

It's amazing how many pictures I have to delete because the boy was moving wildly and the picture was blurred. He's "talking" nonstop and moves like crazy. But then every now and again he will just stop and sit so sweetly in your lap or just be still and watch something. We're loving it all...
